PCM(Prepreg Compression Molding) Process

The PCM (Prepreg Compression Molding) method is a molding method in which a prepreg, an intermediate material that is semi-hardened by pre-impregnating carbon fiber in uni-directional or woven form with a resin, is pressed using a press.
A blank produced by laminating a prepreg in a sheet form is placed between preheated molds and pressed with a press in the same manner as stamping to manufacture a product.

This PCM method can satisfy productivity and mechanical performance at the same time by utilizing the press used in the existing steel plate parts without any additional equipment. To shorten the molding time, a fast curing resin applied prepreg is used.

프리프레그(Prepreg)는 일방향 또는 직물 형태의 탄소섬유에 수지를 미리 함침하여 반경화한 중간재입니다.
PCM(Prepreg Compression Molding)은 이러한 프리프레그를 프레스를 사용하여 압착하는 방식의 성형 공법으로, 프리프레그를 시트 형태로 적층한 뒤 제작한 블랭크(Blank)를 예열된 금형 사이에 놓고 스템핑과 동일하게 프레스로 압착하여 제품을 제작합니다.

이러한 PCM공법은 추가적인 장비가 거의 없이 기존의 철판 부품에서 사용된 프레스를 그대로 활용하여 생산성과 기계적 성능을 동시에 만족시킬 수 있으며, 경화 시간이 빠른 속경화 수지를 적용한 프리프레그를 사용하여 성형 시간을 단축할 수 있습니다.
